Chantelle
This microphone, handmade in Portland OR, has the clarity of a studio quality condenser mic, but is designed for the live environment. It is a pleasure to sing through, not only for the sound quality, but for the larger sweet spot area that allows vocal enunciation to be heard clearly without needing to be pinned so close to the microphone. These microphones are a real treat and have the feel of an heirloom right from the start!
End-address large-diaphragm condenser with flexible pivoting body, very feedback resistant, excellent for live vocals and acoustic instruments.
Chantelle was created to be the best available live vocal mic. She brings the clarity, warmth, and character of a large diaphragm capsule to a beautiful low-profile body ideal for close-micing. She has a smooth high end with no harshness and a very gentle upper-midrange emphasis. She also incorporates a full foam pop filter for great plosive protection. With exceptional feedback rejection, she can be used on even the loudest of stages.
Her warm, present tone is also great on acoustic instruments.
LIFETIME WARRANTY
We offer a lifetime warranty on defects or internal electrical failures in normal use. If a transistor goes noisy or an internal connection breaks we'll pay for shipping and fix or replace it for free. Obviously things like microphones can get broken by mishandling or misadventure; if your mic is damaged from rough handling or a hard touring life (we’ve seen it all!) we'll fix it for the cost of parts and shipping. We want these mics to be heirlooms, so we’ll always take care of you and your mic.
Edwina

Her smooth, detailed sound excels at all kinds of stage duties, from vocals to acoustic instruments to drum overheads, and also shines in the studio as a warm, accurate recording mic. She is optimized as a single-source mic, but with a sweet spot from one out to 18 inches, she does great capturing voice and instrument together for solo or even two performers.
- Hand-made microphone with unique appearance
- Side or end address, using pivoting bracket
- Capsule and electronics tuned for close to medium distance use on the most difficult stages with excellent feedback rejection

Myrtle
Large-diaphragm condenser microphone with spring-suspended retro styling. Ideal for live vocal performance use, or single-micing small acoustic ensembles.
Myrtle has the most classic vintage styling of any of our mics, with a design pedigree straight from the 1930s. Her sound, however, is a wonder of modern acoustic design that thrives in current stage environments. She takes the warm, detailed sound and astonishing feedback rejection of Edwina, and adds a low end tuned for accurately capturing acoustic instruments from any distance. Her sweet spot extends from 6 inches out. And she has the low noise and natural clarity to work wonderfully in the studio as well.

Nadine
Nadine is a medium-large diaphragm condenser mic specifically designed for use on upright basses. The low end is tuned to give a flat response at the mounting distance, and the cardioid pickup pattern provides very natural sound by picking up as much of the surface of the bass as possible, within the constraints of the close placement. There's great rejection off the back of the mic, allowing use with stage monitors.
Physically, the mic is separated into the body, which securely straps to the tailpiece with velcro elastic, and the head, which mounts easily between the strings above the tailpiece using a rubber grommet. The 14-inch Mogami cable that connects the two parts makes it easy to place the mic ideally on any bass. This mounting system makes Nadine both easy to move from instrument to instrument and secure enough to leave on one bass permanently. After years of being asked for a mic specifically designed to meet the needs of the acoustic upright player, we think we've found the best design yet for this demanding application.
FEATURES
- Hand-made microphone with unique appearance
- Unique, easy-to-use mounting system designed specifically for upright bass. 14" Mogami cable and washer-mounted head to fit all sizes of upright bass.
- Capsule and electronics tuned for live use with excellent feedback rejection
- Internal shock dampers for minimal handling noise
- Transformerless FET fully balanced electronics
- Highest quality hand-wired electronic components - film caps, precision resistors, hand tested and matched transistors, with component values tuned for the individual circuit.

Upright bass, live and in studio
Mabel
Mabel is a hand-built multi-pattern condenser microphone designed primarily for studio use on demanding sources like acoustic instruments, drum overheads, and vocals. Mabel features a unique copper-ringed head basket with brass grill work, held in a pivoting mount in a stainless-steel yoke, and a copper-and-brass body. The design is both visually stunning and extremely practical, as the pivoting head makes for easy positioning adjustments.
She uses two fixed-cardioid electret medium-large diaphragm (26mm) condenser capsules, individually tested and selected to match each other and strict design criteria. The circuit is a transformerless FET with fully balanced output, incorporating thorough EMI protection. Other electrical components in the signal path are highest quality metal film resistors, polypropylene and polystyrene capacitors, and individually tested, hand-matched and biased transistors and JFETs.
The dual-cardioid-capsule design is an uncommon approach to a multi-pattern mic. It has advantages in an especially deep null at the sides of the figure 8 pattern and greater control over the directional frequency response across all the patterns. The circuit includes high frequency EQ tuned to the capsules to provide a very smooth high end. The response is very flat, with full low end and controlled high end, with response dropping above 14K.
FEATURES
- Hand-made microphone with unique appearance
- Multiple switch-selectable patterns - cardioid, omni, figure-8
- Pivoting head for ease of positioning
- Internal shock dampers for minimal handling noise
- Integral silk and mesh pop filter
- Transformerless FET fully balanced electronics
- Highest quality hand-wired electronic components - film caps, precision resistors, hand tested and matched transistors, with component values tuned for the individual circuit.
SUGGESTED APPLICATIONS
In studio for vocals, acoustic instruments, overheads. Multiple patterns provide different tonal options.

With the help of numerous musicians spreading the word, we've grown to a small workshop with three craftspeople building microphones for customers worldwide. Philip's daughter Malachi now helps run the business (and her two bands). Everyone in the shop is a musician, and we try never to lose sight of our goal of putting affordable, great quality tools in the hands of working artists.
